My First Screenplay

a children’s book

written for Wren when he was born

FADE IN

The start of every MOVIE is a

FADE IN.

It’s when the blank screen
opens to a WORLD…

A MAGICAL, WONDERFUL WORLD.

So when your eyes
OPEN
for the very first
TIME

You FADE IN to your world.
To your story.

Because guess what?
You are the
“PROTAGONIST”

THE MAIN CHARACTER!

EXT. MOM’S BELLY
is where you begin.

Exterior = Outside

INT. MOM’S ARMS
is your first setting.

Interior = Inside

Your settings are ever-changing…

EXT. VENICE

INT. SCHOOL

INT. FRIEND’S HOUSE

EXT. BEACH

INT. MOVING TRUCK

EXT. CULVER CITY

Don’t be scared!

New settings and SCENES
make up a story.

And you will always have…

INT. MOM’S ARMS

A “screenplay” is made up of:

HIGHS & lows.

Obstacles & Twists

Conflict & Complications

BUT

There are “supporting characters”
to help through the lows.

You will grow STRONGER
with each complication

“MOTIVATION” pushes you
past obstacles.

Your character,
what makes you

WREN

will get you to the Highs.

And what’s an exciting
story without
TWISTS?!

Stories and Screenplays
are told with a

BEGINNING
MIDDLE
& END

Your life will not be
just one story.

There will be many
beginnings
& middles
& ends.

The truth is,
life isn’t a screenplay…

There is no perfect “structure”
No “plot points”
No “narrative” made of lines.

Your MAGICAL,
WONDERFUL
WORLD
will be filled with “BEATS”

Beats are moments.
The HEART(beat)
of every script.

So live in those moments,
don’t worry about
the next “scene".”

Just remember…

YOU are the PROTAGONIST

It’s your
